 It’s impossible to describe Ferrwood Music
Camp without first describing its founder. Rev. Joseph Ferrara, known and loved by many simply as Father Joe. When Father Joe arrived in Hazleton as a young priest
his “orders” from Msgr. Molino of Most Precious Blood Church included getting his kids off the streets and out of trouble. He used his musical talent to forge a
program for area youngsters starting them in music education as early as possible. He used a simple instrument akin to the flutophone which Ferrwood still uses to this day
to lay the foundations of music theory, notation, and scales. Over the years Father Joe’s ambition and good will would lead to the creation of
the Hazleton Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir until the demand for more musicians led to the opening of

New Comers Night
Join Us for a New Comers Night
Never been to Ferrwood? Want to see what it’s all about before you sign up ? Join us on June 6th at 6:30 p.m. or on June 7th at 1:00 p.m. We will meet in the kitchen and you can tour the
facility, meet the administration, and ask any questions at this time. Please call the Philharmonic Office and reserve your seat. The 10% discount will be extended to June 10th for all newcomers who attend this presentation.
Orientation
Already Registered ?
We will have an orientation meeting (parent night) for all campers who are registered to attend on June 20th at 6:30p.m. This is a mandatory meeting for all campers and their parents. Meet the instructors, the counselors, the full administrative board, parent volunteers and more. There will be door prizes and a short music demonstration.
