What to Bring to Camp

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Greater Hazleton Philharmonic Society sponsors a summer music camp in Drums, PA. We specialize in the instruction of strings: violin, viola, cello, and bass. In addition we offer brass, woodwinds, percussion, guitar, and vocals. Space is limited and assigned on a first come, first served basis. A 10% discount is offered to resident campers who have registered and paid by June 1, 2008.

Campers will be divided into various levels depending upon ability. Group instruction will be conducted Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM. Ensembles will be formed each day from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M.  Activities such as swimming, field games, crafts, and rehearsals follow. Each week will conclude with a Friday evening concert performed by the Great Hazleton Philharmonic and those campers who are capable of playing with the orchestra. Beginner campers will demonstrate what they have learned prior to the concert. Campers are asked to remain until the concert is over.

WILL CAMP BE FUN ?
If you want to learn from great instructors, play in ensembles, take master classes, learn to improvise, you will love camp. If you like hikes, potato roasts, movie nights, frozen tee shirt contests, crafts taught by degreed art teacher, making your own instruments and having a home made music instrument contest, ferrwood fun passes, cool little find the clef contests (Sort of a Musical Easter Egg Hunt) and more then you'll love camp. So will it be fun ? You decide.
